RAD board #8, the Barracuda, has a traditional shortboard shape with minimal rocker for speed and ease of paddling. It’s got plenty of concave, built for smaller waves or bigger people. It’s super light, fast and fun, weighing in at about 2.2kg. With its rounded square tail, this board is awesome for all turns and manoeuvres and is quick on the take-off. Its blue and yellow colour combo is, well, rad.

RAD construction

R.A.D. stands for Research And Development. It allows us to test out new techniques and materials that then find their way into other new products. The RAD construction champions flax cloth, an all-natural material with similar properties to carbon fibre. The entire deck and finbox areas are quite literally mummified in flax, making this an incredibly durable and sustainable surfboard.

All our constructions use an expanded polystyrene (EPS) core. Unlike traditional polyurethane (PU), this doesn’t degrade or yellow with UV exposure, neither does it take on water if the skin gets damaged. We glass our boards with bio epoxy resin, which is less harmful than traditional resins. We hand-make our leash plugs using Cornish applewood and a brass pin, which ages beautifully without losing its integrity. All our boards are hand-shaped with love and pride in our wind-powered workshop in Cornwall.
